A group of Companions of the Order of Malta and friends will travel to Nairobi from 1st - 11th of July to take part in a programme of social action with some tourism and leisure activities.
The basic progranne:
Wednesday 29th June: 18.35 arrive Nairobi, transfer to St Joseph Centre in Karen
Thursday 30th June/Friday 1st July: Visits to Laini Saba, St Christine's, St Aloysius, St Secilia's etc. Change accommodation to Loreto Mary Ward Centre.
Saturday 2nd July: brief orientation meeting followed by painting Laini Saba Primary School.
Sunday 3rd July: Mass at Nyumbani Orphanage 10 a.m. then back to the painting.
Monday - Friday: a mixture of working in three primary schools and seeing first hand the activities of the Malteser Community Health Workers and TB clinics.
Saturday 9th July: visits to Giraffe Centre, Elephant Orphanage, Karen Blixen Coffee House and Kariokor Market, vigil Mass 5.30 p.m. in Karen.
Sunday 10th July: All day safari at Nairobi National Park
Monday 11th July -return to UK
The recommended airline from Scotland is KLM, although Companions in the south may find a cheaper alternative. You will be asked to book your own flights, currently around £850 return. The rest of the programme will cost about £400 per person.
